As a drama instructor and trained foreign language teacher, I study performative didactics in foreign language learning (teaching and learning languages through theatre) and I research the sustainability of integrating theatrical methods into subject and language didactics. My years of experience as a continuing educator and theatre instructor in Germany and abroad demonstrates that integrating theatrical methods in the classroom isn't just sensible, but can also be unbelievably fruitful. In my work, I draw from methods of theatrical pedagogy, improvistional theatre, forum theatre, and many more, and transplant them into the classroom. In the process, I place particular emphasis on participatory activity and reflection for personal classroom praxis. I offer interactive, playful methods to make lesson content accessible and comprehensible, thus ensuring long-lasting pedagogical success.
I hear and I forget.
I see and I remember.
I do and I understand.
