ACADEMIC INTERESTS

My academic interests include English Literature, Academic Writing, Critical Thinking, and Social Linguistics. My work has been published in the journals German Politics, and Political Studies.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

I completed my PhD thesis on discourses of post-war cultural media from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, in 1998. Previous to this I gained a Master's degree in Strategic Studies from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth (where my Master's thesis was an applied case study on US-American culture), and a first class degree in Politics from the University of Wales, Swansea. To combine my interest in cultural discourse and linguistics with teaching, I completed a Cambridge RSA/UCLES qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and taught at an undergraduate level in Frankfurt/Main.
